Why I quit Stitch Fix

Are you still loving StitchFix? I had to quit and here is why:

1) They were NOT paying attention to my Pinterest Board: I love the idea of Stitch Fix. When I shop for myself, I always head towards blacks, grays and whites - my comfort zone. When I go pinning on Pinterest, the looks I pin are so different then what I actually wear. My Pinterest Board is a 100% accurate presentation of what I want my style to be, but I'm unable to execute on my own for some reason. My Stylists however, seemed to be ignoring my Pinterest and my requests at all. After another disappointing and confusing box, I finally had to say buh bye!

2) Price verse quality? Prices for a lot of the items I received were higher then I was used to spending. BUT, the quality was supposed to be much better so I didn't mind splurging a little. Well it turns out that many of the pieces I ended up purchasing, are not a better quality then the items I have purchased on my own from Target. Jeans have started pilling very quickly, seams have fallen out of shirts, and one of the shirts I only wore once, and I ended up with a big hole in the arm pit by the end of the day. I think the items are way too over priced for the quality. I know that many people love StitchFix, and I'm still hooked on StitchFix review blogs and vlogs. Some other users seem to get the cutest items in their boxes and I find myself getting jealous often! And I still love the idea of a clothing subscription service. So I'm trying a few more:

Natalie Attired - I didn't keep anything from my first box because it fit issues - not style.  I thought prices were a little high, but the items felt like much higher quality items then Stitch Fix.  My next box is set to arrive this week, I'll keep you posted.

Nadine West - I'm giving it once more shot....the first two shipments were pretty low quality - but I realized that I had selected the lowest price option so that could be why.  I've updated my profile to request higher quality items, so we will see what the next package brings.

Trendsend by EverEve - Freaking love this.  Their styling fee is only $1.00.  Yup, one dollar!  They have sent me some items that I NEVER would have picked myself and I ended up LOVING them.  My favorite dress of the summer came from one of my first boxes, and I have worn it and washed it so many times and it's still holding up great.

What subscription boxes do you love?

OOTD

Today's OOTD

Horrible hair - result of forgetting to set my alarm and depending on dry shampoo to save the day!

OOTD

Today's outfit of the day....

Jeans from StitchFix
Black Tank from Express about 9 years ago (seriously...how is this thing still in one piece?)
Fringed Cardigan from WalMart

Not sure it works, but I wanted to wear this dang cardigan so badly.  I think it would look very cute with a bright colored spring shirt, but I only had black shoes.  So internet world, help me!  Cute summer/spring shoes that are work appropriate are required, any suggestions?

Go Shopping With Me

Lunch break trip to Target!

I wanted to love this shirt so bad.  The medium was way too tight on the chest...large is too big everywhere else.  Back on the rack this goes!

Loved this flowy tank, perfect with jeans on a warm day, and then I popped the cardigan I wore to work on top and loved it as well.  I love pieces I can dress up and down easily.  These came home with me!

I'm on the neverending search for a jean jacket.  I've had one sent to me from StitchFix, and I've tried them on at every dang store.  They just never fit right.  I like that this one had non denim sleeves....but...
too tight on the chest as usual, and next size up is too big.  It's just not meant to be.

Then I made a decision....a BIG decision....to try on bathing suits.  I HATE bathing suits.  I HATE my legs, my belly, nothing fits, it's horrible.  Then I found this swim skirt that I freaking loved, and found a top that wasn't so bad,
I can't believe I'm posting this on the internet..... the skirt offers coverage.  Definitely a Mom bathing suit...but cuter then I've seen in the past.  And don't worry, the top has a strap to hold the girls up, I just didn't attach it for the sake of trying this on. I'm ready for the pool, and our trip to Mexico this winter!

and to finish off the post, my OOTD.  Lazy classic Katie.  Black work pants, white shirt and a cardigan....

April StitchFix

Confession time!  I have my StitchFix shipped to my work so my boyfriend doesn't know.  Tell me I'm not the only one!  So my box arrived as I was headed out the door on lunch to Target.  So, I ripped it open, and threw the items in my bag so I could try them on in the dressing room at Target lol.

Item #1 the Collective Concepts Galen Printed Dress $78.00
I requested dresses since I refuse to wear shorts (hate my thighs) summer is a struggle clothing wise for me.  This is a dress I would never pick out myself, so I was excited to try it on.  Props to my stylist for this one, It's great quality and I love the pattern but it just didn't fit me right.  Also, the straps make it hard for me to wear a regular bra, and with my size chest, I hate having to deviate from my usual super comfy and supportive bra.
It's a great length, casual enough for flip flops, but can easily throw a cardigan with it and wedges and wear to work.  I also love the style of dress on me usually, helps hide the tummy but this one seemed just a tad big.

Verdict: Sending it back.

Item #2 Pixley Alison Swing Dress $ 48.00
Another Item I would probably not grab off the shelf myself, as soon as I saw this was coming I thought I would hate it.  Dresses that are "straight" don't fit my body well.  But, I tried it on anyways.  I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hug my tummy, but it's a little too big and boxy.  Again, a great piece that would be worn on the weekends with the kids, or dressed up for work.  I need to try this on again at home with a belt to see if that helps.

Verdict: undecided....need to belt it and then see, but I have a feeling it's going back.

Item #3 Vinnie Relaxed Linen Straight Leg Pant $118.00

My stylist noted that these pants are higher priced then my usual requested range, but thought they would be great for the summer instead of my usual jeans.  I'm definitely willing to splurge a little bit on a good pair of pants, but I'm not sure these are them.  I like the color, I don't own any pants this color, love the cut, the length but not enough to justify the price.  I feel like I wouldn't know what to pair with these other then a white shirt and I just don't think I would get enough use out of them to justify the price.  Although I loved how they made my butt look....
Verdict: Sending them back.

Item #4 Pixley Indianan Graphic Print Mixed Material Tee $44.00
Love mixed material tee's, loved how soft this is, loved the pattern but hated the fit.  Again, my stylist was right on target with this one, but the fit just doesn't work.
Verdict: returned

Item #5 Pixley Vicente Embroidery Detail Top $48.00

I'm loving white right now, and I LOVE the pink detailing on the top.  BUT....it feels a little too big.  There is no way that my sizing needs to go down to a small, I think the style of this shirt is supposed to be big, but unfortunately items like this come down off my bust line and look like a maternity top. This is another item that I need to try on again at home with my jeans and see how I feel.
Verdict: undecided.

I feel bummed that most (maybe all) of my items didn't work for me this time.  But, I totally understand and appreciate why my stylist chose all of these items for me.  What do you guys think of these items???

I'm back.  The flu made its way through my house, and now I have it.  I stayed in bed all day yesterday, but had to drag myself to work today for some meetings.

Today's outfit:
Jeans (Target)
White crochet t-shirt (Marshalls)
Purple Cardigan (Target)
Hair - full of dry shampoo because the NyQuil I took last night hadn't worn off this morning, I hit snooze too many times to be able to wash and dry my hair in time....oops!

I'm proud of myself for grabbing the purple cardigan instead of the usual black.
